Louise micik obit

Louise Margarone Micik, 89, of Chickahominy peacefully passed away surrounded by her family on Tuesday, October 9th at Greenwich Hospital.

She was born in Greenwich on September 16, 1923 to the late Angelina Capuano and Dominick Magarone and lived in Chickahominy most of her life until she moved to Byram in 1980. Shortly after World War II, Louise met John, who was private first class in the 818 Tank Destroyer Battalion of the Army. They were married at St Roch's Church on May 17th, 1947 and recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

During World War II, Louise worked at S&K in Port Chester, NY making uniforms for the soldiers. She also worked at Life Savers and the Ruwe Pencil Factory. Louise was a lifelong parishioner of St Roch's Church and a volunteer for the church, school and annual feast. She was a member of St Ann's Sodality and the Women's Auxiliary of the 818th Tank Destroyer Battalion and was president in 1996. She was an avid supporter of the Maryknoll and Byram Vets. She was a member of the "Chickahominy Phone Club" calling her friends and family on a daily basis.

Louise's greatest joy in life was her family. She gave her love and enthusiastic support to her husband, her children, grandchildren and extended family. Louise brought fun and joy to all those she touched. Her thoughtfulness, tenderness and genuine care for others will always be remembered. She enjoyed attending army reunions. She enjoyed walking, babysitting, and spending time with her family and friends.

Louise is survived by her husband, John; her three sons John and wife Marilyn of Virginia, James and wife Joy of Greenwich and David and wife Marie of Greenwich; grandchildren Andrew, Emily, William, James, Michael and Brendan; sister Carmela Micik of Milford and brother-in-law, Nick Lagronegro of Greenwich; and many nieces and nephews and their extended families.

She was predeceased by brothers Rico and Michael Magarone and sisters Rose Magarone and Viola Lagrenegro. Friends may call from 4-8PM on Friday, October 12 at the Castiglione Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, CT. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00AM on Saturday, October 13 at St. Roch's Church, Greenwich, CT. Entombment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
